🎄 Moebius Voices Holiday Giving Tree 🎄

The Holiday Giving Tree is a way for us to spread kindness and connection during the season of giving. This year, we are focusing specifically on children and adults with Moebius Syndrome within the United States. Our role is to facilitate the process by gathering applications, collecting donor sign-ups, and securely matching the two. Once a match is made, donors work directly with the parent, guardian, or referral contact to arrange shipping of gifts. Our goal is simple: bring people together in the Moebius community to share a little extra joy this holiday season.

Program Guidelines for Receivers (Recipients)

Eligibility

  • Only individuals or families living in the 50 United States may be nominated.

  • One person per household: either a child with Moebius Syndrome or one adult with Moebius Syndrome.

Who can submit a nomination (no self-nominations)

  • Nominations must be submitted by a parent/guardian or a trusted referrer (family member, friend, teacher, case worker, therapist, pastor, or community leader) with the recipient’s permission.

  • Adults with Moebius may not apply for themselves.

Application timing

  • Now–Oct 15, 2025: We are accepting Donor Applications only.

  • Oct 16, 2025: Receiver (recipient) nominations open. Please wait until this date to submit a nomination.

Matching & privacy

  • Matches depend on donor availability; a match is not guaranteed.

  • We prioritize first-time recipients and one recipient per household.

  • If matched, we will share the recipient’s contact details with the donor so you can coordinate directly.

  • All information remains private and is shared only with the matched donor for coordination.

  • Our goal is to connect matches and share contact details by Nov 15, 2025, so there’s time to arrange shipping.

Shipping coordination

  • Once a match is made, donors and parents/guardians/referrers will connect directly to coordinate shipping and delivery.

What the nomination must include

  • Recipient’s name, age, and relationship to the nominator

  • Phone number of the parent/guardian or referrer (required)

  • Email address

  • Mailing address (physical U.S. street address only — no P.O. Boxes)

  • A short note on why this program would help this year

  • Gift requests (specific items, clothing sizes, favorite colors, etc.)

  • Allergies donors should be aware of (skin or food)

  • Photo of the individual with Moebius Syndrome (required)

  • References may be requested before final approval.

Need help?

  • If an adult with Moebius needs assistance identifying a nominator, please email tim@mfoms.org or text 540-219-1248 and we’ll try to help connect you with a suitable referrer.

Program Guidelines for Donors

  • Suggested spending: $50–$100 total, including shipping.

  • Number of gifts: Up to the donor, but please prioritize the receiver’s requested items.

  • Donors must provide a valid phone number and email in case we need to get in touch.

Privacy & Confidentiality

Confidentiality is a top priority.

  • The names of donors, receivers, and individuals with Moebius Syndrome will not be publicly shared.

  • Details about what gifts were given or received will not be released.

  • If participants wish to share their own experience, that is entirely up to them.

  • Only necessary details will be shared between matched donors and parent/guardian or referral.

What kinds of gifts should be sent?
Receivers list specific gift requests (such as toys, clothing sizes, or favorite items). Donors are encouraged to use these requests as their guide, with a suggested total spend of $50–$100 including shipping.'

Can donors send gift cards?
That choice is up to the donor. We do not require or restrict gift cards, but we encourage donors to focus on the receiver’s requested items whenever possible.

No. MFOMS and Moebius Voices are not a nonprofit organization, so gifts made through this program are not tax-deductible.

Is my information private?
Yes. We take confidentiality seriously. Only the matched donor and parent/guardian or referral will see each other’s details. We do not share names, addresses, or gift information publicly.
